637VGS operates the Royal Air Force's Vigilant T.1 in a military flying training role. Training is taught to the syllabus set and standardised by the Royal Air Force's Central Flying School (CFS). Thousands of Air Cadets, aged between 13 and 22 years of age, undergo a variety of basic flying training courses experiencing powered flying for the first time. 637VGS is located at RAF Little Rissington, the former home to CFS. From here the VGS conducts its flying training. It is managed and regulated through the Flying Branch of the Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) at RAF College Cranwell on behalf of No.22 (Training) Group RAF. 637VGS achieves its annual Air Cadet tasking from the South West Combined Cadet Force (RAF) TEST Area, along with the Warwickshire & Birmingham, Bristol & Gloucester, and the West Mercia Wings of the Air Training Corps. Additionally, 637VGS provides residential courses during the May and July/August periods, supporting the Air Cadets, Regular and Reserve Staff from across the UK. [Back to top]
